Relax

I love that when looking at this card I can almost hear the crashing of the waves and smell the salt air.  This is one of the newly released stamps and can be found in one of your local stores (all you have to do is ask).  They can find it through CCDesigns or their distributers.

For this stamp I cut out the sand portions and layered it 2 extra times to create dimension.  In real life it really does pop.

Enjoy!

Anchor Beach Scene

Hi Everyone,

I just love how this scene worked out using the gorgeous Anchor Rubber Stamp.

It's often difficult to find good images for manly cards that we actually want to colour. ;)  teehee.
I found creating a whole beach themed scene gave me the extra excitement to be creative.

I don't do much watercolouring but decided to have a little fun with this one.

Using a combination of Derwent Inktense pencils and Distress Inks
I attempted to watercolour the scene.
I do like the 'subdued' result but those trees turned into a mess! haha

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Masking Lilac & Butterfly

Hi Everyone,

I really love this stamp and wanted to try creating a frame around my card by stamping the stamp multiple times. By masking certain areas and selectively inking and turning the stamp, I was able to carefully build the flowers around the edge whilst keeping the butterfly as the main focus.

The main image was coloured with Copic Markers and then once I had cropped my design using the LawnFawn stitched rectangle dies, I sponged Distress Inks around the edges to darken them, helping to draw attention to the focal point of the butterfly.

I think masking flower images like this and building a frame around your card design is a fun way to extend the use of your stamps in a creative way.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Fish have Googly Eyes....

Hi Everyone,

I LOVE this fish but my favourite part is that the googly eye is so funny! It's just perfect I reckon. haha

This was one of those cards that I was struggling with at first. I was a little disappointed with how my fish was looking but man oh man, when I thought to add the googly eye it just 'made' the card and everything fell into place for me.

I created the background using some watercolor paper that I spritzed with water before dripping a drop of Turquoise & Iris pigment Izink.

I allowed it to dry before die cutting the Mama Elephant 'friend' shape and stamping the sentiment.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Pop on top a Cupcake

Hi Everyone,

Even though the DoveArt range of stamps is on the realistic side of illustrating, it doesn't mean you can't creatively add some cartoony elements. In this example I thought it would be fun to pop a little character on top of the cupcake and incorporate a fun abstract background.

I began by stamping Sitting Jane and masked her before stamping the Cupcake

Then I coloured the image with copic markers and fussy cut the image leaving a white border.

I created the background using watercolour paper and I stamped the sentiment with Gesso that I had thinned out with water and then I thought it would be fun to used the 'Falling Snow' background stamp to add more texture and interest.

Then using my distress ink pads (Peacock feathers, dusty concord & worn lipstick) I diluted them with water and then applied the colours to the background. Then I spritzed the page with a bit of water to allow the colours to run together but I was careful not to let it get too mixed. I dabbed off some of the excess with a paper towel and then I heat set it.

I repeated the steps adding another layer of colours to help add more texture and finally I flicked it with a few flicks of purple.

I mounted the image with foam squares to add some dimension and then adhered the panel onto a light brown card base to tie the cupcake and elements all together.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

The amazing boots!

Hi Everyone,

I've coloured the famous boots a few times now and it's fun to see how they change a little each time and how they become easier to colour too!

This was my first attempt at colouring the boots. I was going for the cherry matte finish.

I wish I could remember the colours I used for this image! Perfect reason to try and keep track of colours for your future self. ;)

At Jennifer's amazing COPIC BOOTCAMP she helps to guide all the attendees through colouring the boots.

I have had fun colouring them with bright colours.

Jennifer and I also had so much fun playing a game where we would pass the 'Boots' back and forth after 5 minute intervals. The end result of each image was extraordinary.

It's fun to see how you can creatively turn what you would imagine is just a picture of 'boots' into something so cool and different!

What magic touch are you going to add to your BOOT STAMP?!

I hope I've helped to inspire you with some ideas today.

Here kitty kitty...

Hello Everyone,

Today I am sharing a scene I created combining two stamps from DoveArt Studios.

I have created a scene using the new 'Curious Kitty' rubber stamp
combined with the Harvest Delight Rubber Stamp.

I also coloured and cut out an extra pepper so that I could pop it up over the paw of the cat to add some interest.

The image was coloured with Copic markers but at the end to help create even more texture in the cat, I added some additional detail using very sharp pencils, a mixture of prismacolor and polychromos depending on the colour I wanted to match.
I wasn't sure which sentiment I would use until I noticed the 'Thank you for handling me with care' sentiment from My favorite things - you've got mail collection. I thought it was quite fitting for the scene I had created.
Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope I have inspired you to build a scene with the incredible DoverArt stamps.

Friends flock together... well stick together...

Hi Everyone,

I am back to share my most recent DoveArt creation using the gorgeous Bird Aviary rubber stamp.

Being the nutbag that I am, I wanted to try and colour the birds as realistic as possible and I was totally stumped on what one of the birds were. I was so obsessed in finding out what it was that I even asked for ideas in a bird forum!

I love how the finished card turned out. It's just such a fabulous image for bird lovers!

As you can imagine. I used a pile of markers to complete this beauty!

Thank You

This was a fun image to color.  I chose not to cut out the sentiment when I got the stamp so that it was all one piece.  But the nice thing is you have a choice if you want to use something else.  I fussy cut one of the flowers and popped it up.

This stamp is now available with the latest release HERE

ZZZZ - Zebras

There is just something about black and white that looks so great on a card.  So do these Zebras.

I created my own background for them to sit upon.  I think they are a bit camouflaged don't you?  This image has got to be the quickest thing I have ever gotten to color.  All you do is color in the shadow areas to give the appearance of a white Zebra.

Copics used:
N0 N2 N4 N6

I added the sentiment from Simply Sweet Sentiment.  You can find both these stamps at CCDesigns or at your local craft store.  If they do not have them yet they can be ordered.  Check out the link on the side for a few places that carry DoveArt Studios line of stamps.

Yummmm... chocolate cup cake!

Hey there!

Seems like way too long in between DoveArt Studio cards for me, so thought I should remedy that with this yummy Cup Cake card. It's pretty hard to go past a chocolate cupcake isn't it, especially ones with sprinkles on top! I hope you enjoy this one.

Coloured with Copic Markers - E44, 47, 49, RV52, 62, 55, Brown Copic Multi Liner 0.03 and a white gel pen.

Happy Father's Day

This beautiful card was done by Maria.  I love the simplicity of the card.   The subtle clouds are such a compliment to the stamp.   I think sometimes we tend to overcomplicate cards, when really they can just speak for themselves.  You can see more of her work on her blog HERE.

You can purchase this stamp "Anchor" at CCDesigns or at one of your local stores.
